LATAM Airlines Perú recently announced its plan to resume non-stop flights between Salta province in Argentina and Lima, Peru, starting this December, subject to government approval. The airline will relaunch the service with three weekly frequencies, with ticket sales opening in the coming weeks through their website and travel agencies.
Salta Governor Gustavo Sáenz emphasized the vital importance of this connection for both tourism and investment: «This flight was another challenge we faced, as it further strengthens our province’s role as a gateway to the world for the entire northern region of Argentina and, of course, for Salta’s residents. The connectivity generated by this route is remarkable, not only for tourism between Peru and the rest of the world but also for business and investment opportunities in both regions.»
LATAM Airlines Perú CEO Manuel van Oordt highlighted the significance of this route’s resumption, stating, «Restarting this route is crucial for LATAM, as it not only enables us to offer a better service proposal to our passengers but also benefits regional economies and enhances our country’s international presence.»
The reinstatement of this direct flight will allow passengers to explore tourist attractions and visit various cities in both destinations. Moreover, through LATAM’s hub in Peru, passengers from Salta can access over 25 international destinations, including locations in Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean.
Salta, one of Argentina’s most picturesque northern provinces, lies east of the Andes Mountains and over 1,600 kilometers from Buenos Aires. The region offers a unique combination of historical, ecological, religious, gastronomic, and adventure tourism opportunities, with few places in South America matching its diversity. Salta is also renowned for its well-preserved colonial Spanish heritage.
Lima, Peru’s capital, serves as the primary gateway to the country’s rich culture, cuisine, and ancient history. The city’s historic center was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988, attracting visitors not only for its tourist attractions but also for its natural beauty. Iconic beach resorts in Barranco and Miraflores, as well as Punta Hermosa and San Bartolo to the south, draw visitors seeking nature’s splendor.
