Qatar Airways inaugurates flights to Lyon, France

Qatar Airways continues to expand its network in Europe with the start of its non-stop flights between Doha and Lyon, with the inaugural service taking place on July 3, 2023. With this new service, the airline now operates on four French routes, increasing its offering to 160 destinations worldwide.

Present at the inaugural flight ceremony were: Pierre Grosmaire, Commercial and Marketing Director of Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport; Eric Odone, Qatar Airways Vice President Sales Europe; crew members; airport staff and local press.

Flight QR 51 was operated by a Boeing 787 registered A7 – BCG, which took off from Hamad International Airport (DOH) at 08:41 local time and landed at Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS) at 13:34, after six hours and one minute.

Qatar Airways Group CEO H.E. Akbar Al Baker , said: “Our expanded network in France is a testament to our successful cooperation, and we look forward to welcoming French and European passengers traveling through our hub, Hamad International Airport, for seamless and captivating travel to more than 160 global destinations“.

Qatar Airways flight schedule to Lyon

  • Doha – Lyon Flight QR 51 DOH 08:25 – LYS 14:10 Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
  • Lyon – Doha Flight QR 52 LYS 16:35 – DOH 23:35 Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

The route is operated on Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft with a capacity of 254 seats in two classes (22 Business Class/232 Economy) and promotional fares are available from 728 euros round trip.

Aéroports de Lyon Chairman of the Board Tanguy Bertolus, said: “This connection between the capital of Qatar and Lyon will further strengthen the attractiveness of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, as well as the Lyon metropolitan area, by offering more options to and from the Middle East and Asia, especially Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand“.

Qatar Airways network in France

For the summer season, the airline will have an offer of 21,776 seats per week between Doha and France:

  • Paris – Charles de Gaulle (CDG): three daily flights on Airbus A350-1000, Airbus A380 and Boeing 777-300ER.
  • Nice (NCE): four weekly flights on Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
  • Toulouse (TLS): three weekly flights on Airbus A330-200.
  • Lyon (LYS): four weekly flights on Boeing 787-8.
