Japan Airlines to Launch New Non-Stop Service to Doha by 2024

Japan Airlines Miami

After decades of absence in the Middle East, Japan Airlines plans to expand its international long-haul network with a new non-stop service to Hamad International Airport. With this new route, the airline will be the only Japanese carrier to offer scheduled flights to the Middle East.

The new connection will be scheduled to start for the 2024 summer season and will be a non-stop flight between Tokyo/Haneda and Doha. Customers can access multiple destinations in South America, Africa, Europe and the Middle East through the codeshare partnership with Qatar Airways, which is also a member of Oneworld, the same alliance where Japan Airlines belongs.

The Japanese airline plans to fly the new route on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. This new service will boost the carrier’s global connectivity post-COVID and cater to the growing demand from Japanese travelers to the Middle East.

Hamad International Airport is Qatar Airways’ main hub and in partnership with Japan Airlines will strengthen commercial, cultural and tourism ties between Qatar and Japan, with the two airlines scheduled to operate four daily flights on this segment by the summer of next year. In addition to the Japanese carrier’s new service to Doha, Qatar Airways will reactivate its operations to Osaka – Kansai from March 2024.
