Wizz Air signed a firm agreement for an additional 75 Airbus A321neo Family aircraft. This new purchase expands Wizz Air’s total order of the largest single-aisle model to 434, and for the A320 Family in total to 565 aircraft.
The airline’s CEO, József Váradi, hailed the latest contract, proclaiming that Wizz Air had reinforced its position as the preeminent A321neo Family operator across Europe and the Middle East. «More than half our fleet has already transitioned to the cutting-edge neo technology. With its peerless economic efficiency and significantly lower carbon footprint, the A321neo stands as a cornerstone of our commitment to offering affordable and sustainable travel options for our patrons,» Váradi explained.
Currently, Wizz Air operates an all-Airbus fleet, with over 180 A320 Family aircraft already in operation. This robust partnership with Airbus is poised to increase, with an impressive order book of more than 350 neo aircraft still outstanding.
Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International, praised Váradi’s leadership, noting that under his stewardship, Wizz Air has transformed into a formidable force in the European airspace.
Scherer said, «Thanks to József, Wizz Air has steadily grown to become a major player in the industry, proving a great partner to Airbus. Their investment in the A321neo is a solid foundation for Wizz Air’s ongoing expansion strategy. We extend our gratitude to József and everyone at Wizz Air for their unwavering confidence in our partnership and our products.»
This significant new deal solidifies the airline’s strategic expansion plans and confirms its dedication to providing affordable, efficient, and more environmentally friendly travel solutions, supporting its position as a trailblazer in the adoption of state-of-the-art aircraft technology.
