WestJet boosts Manitoba connectivity with new Atlanta flight

On September 6, WestJet launched new cross-border service between Winnipeg and Atlanta with five weekly flights available year-round. The new route will strengthen the connectivity of the province of Manitoba and the southeastern United States, boosting economic and tourism growth in both regions by significantly increasing new air links to the province.

Flight WS 1360 was operated on a Boeing 737 registered as C-GVWA. The aircraft took off from James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG) at 09:20 local time and landed at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) at 13:04, after two hours and 44 minutes.

The inaugural event for the new route held at Price Industries was attended by prominent guests and provincial partners like Heather Stefanson, Premier of Manitoba; Nick Hays, President and CEO of the Winnipeg Airport Authority; Scott Gillingham, Mayor of Winnipeg; and Dayna Spiring, President and CEO of Winnipeg Economic Development.

Winnipeg – Atlanta flight schedule

  • Winnipeg – Atlanta Flight WS 1360 YWG 09:00 – ATL 13:09 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
  • Atlanta – Winnipeg Flight WS 1361 ATL 14:00 – YWG 16:20 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

The route is operated on Boeing 737-700 and 737-800 aircraft with 132 and 174 seats in two classes respectively and promotional fares are available from $514 roundtrip. Atlanta is the airline’s ninth international destination served by Winnipeg, complementing its service to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Cancun, Montego Bay, Orlando, Palm Springs, Phoenix-Sky Harbor, Puerto Vallarta and soon Huatulco.

Partnership with Delta Air Lines

The codeshare partnership between WestJet and Delta Air Lines gives travelers from Winnipeg an extensive network to more than 50 connecting destinations with a single stop in Atlanta. Customers also have the opportunity to earn and redeem miles (WestJet Rewards) on both airlines.

Delta and WestJet offer 22,284 weekly seats between Atlanta and Canada, connecting Georgia’s capital city to Toronto-Pearson, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg.
