Avelo Airlines began service at its sixth U.S. base at Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), with a Boeing 737-700 aircraft to serve, initially, six cities.

«As they say, what happens in Las Vegas, can only happen in Las Vegas, and that makes Las Vegas a winning bet for our sixth base. We are excited to begin the exclusive nonstop access to Las Vegas that Avelo’s new base will offer our customers from these six communities, with more to come in the future,» said Andrew Levy, president and CEO of Avelo Airlines

Avelo this week inaugurated three new routes and expanded another, with two services beginning in mid-September and early October. The low-cost carrier is the only carrier flying nonstop between Las Vegas and these six destinations:

  • Bend / Redmond, Oregon (RDM): Thursdays and Sundays.
  • Sonoma / Santa Rosa, California (STS): Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.
  • Brownsville, Texas (BRO): Mondays and Fridays.
  • Eureka / Arcata, California (ACV): Mondays and Fridays.
  • Dubuque, Iowa (DBQ); Wednesdays and Saturdays (starts September 13).
  • Portland / Salem, Oregon (SLE): Thursdays and Sundays (begins October 5).

All of Avelo’s Las Vegas service is operated on Boeing 737-700 aircraft with 147-seat capacity. Harry Reid International Airport joins Avelo’s five existing bases in Burbank, Orlando-International, Philadelphia/Delaware Valley, Raleigh-Durham and New Haven.

Avelo, since launching service to Las Vegas in October 2021, has achieved a near-perfect completion factor of 99.34%, canceling less than 1% of its flights to Las Vegas in the past 11 months. The company ranks first in occupancy factor to date in 2023. In addition, the  company ranks second in the United States in on-time performance.

The low-cost carrier plans to hire pilots, flight attendants, aircraft maintenance technicians and supervisors. Avelo has recruited approximately 50 Las Vegas-based employees and continues to make new career opportunities available. The company is considering adding a second 737 in 2024, which will allow for additional destinations and jobs based at Harry Reid International Airport.

«The Las Vegas Valley is a great place to visit, but also to call home. We are excited to have Avelo Airlines not only expand its service to Harry Reid International Airport providing even more travelers a convenient and affordable way to get here, but also add Las Vegas as a West Coast base creating jobs and opportunities in our community,» said Clark County Aviation Director Rosemary Vassiliadis.
