Swissport International is expanding its cargo business in Spain by inaugurating a new warehouse at Zaragoza Airport (ZAZ). Swissport’s cargo network will now cover five Spanish airports: Barcelona, Madrid, Málaga, Valencia, and Zaragoza.
The new cargo terminal commenced operations in October 2023. This warehouse provides the company with a strategic platform at one of Spain’s most significant cargo airports. The facility boasts over 4,000 square meters of space for general and express cargo handling, along with 14 truck bays.
Franck Serano, Director of Cargo for Swissport Spain, notes that «the expansion of our cargo network in the country directly responds to the growing demand for cargo capacity. We are proud to be part of the airport’s success and contribute to its future growth, as well as that of the airlines operating within it.»

Dirk Goovaerts, CEO of Continental Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and Global Cargo President of Swissport, adds to Serano’s remarks. «The opening of our new cargo terminal at Zaragoza Airport marks how Swissport seeks to further expand its global air cargo services. By implementing innovative technologies such as self-service kiosks, gate management systems, space reservations, and Bluetooth-based ULD tracking, we will continue to enhance operational efficiency in air cargo handling,» he declared.
Swissport has been present in Zaragoza since 2015, providing services to passengers and ramp services to airlines serving the terminal. This latest investment solidifies Swissport’s position as the leading provider of air cargo handling services in Spain. Additionally, it becomes the key player in Zaragoza, strategically located between Madrid and Barcelona.
