ITA Airways received four new aircraft directly from the factory within one week. The fleet of the Italian airline now consists of 50% NewGen aircraft, cementing its position as one of the leading airlines in terms of technology and efficiency.

The new additions to ITA Airways’ fleet include: an A330-300neo, an A321neo, an A320neo, and an A220-300. The A330 is owned by the airline, while the three narrow-body aircraft were acquired under a leasing arrangement.

These aircraft arrived in Italy between March 20 and 27 and were swiftly put into service the following day after being registered in the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) of the Company.

The rapid inclusion of these aircraft in the Easter scheduling was made possible through collaboration with ENAC and other regulatory authorities involved in the authorization processes, underscoring the airline’s commitment to punctuality and operational excellence.

Francesco Presicce, Responsible Director and Technology Director of ITA Airways, commented: “the investment in our fleet, which has grown by over 60% since our inception, is at the heart of our strategy. Today, the announcement of the introduction of four new-generation Airbus aircraft in just one week is very rewarding for us.”

Presicce also added, “we have implemented entry into service procedures to ensure the quick and efficient integration of newly acquired aircraft while simultaneously respecting safety and regulatory requirements. Achieving this milestone underscores our ambitious goals and our commitment to strategic decision-making.”

Continuous Modernization

ITA Airways has managed to reduce the average age of its fleet from 12.5 to 8.4 in just over two years, demonstrating its commitment to innovation and efficiency. Currently, 50% of its fleet consists of state-of-the-art aircraft, including the A320neo, A330neo, A350XBW, and A220 families.

According to the company’s projections, it is expected that by the end of the year, 26 new aircraft will be added to the fleet, bringing the total operational aircraft to 96. Of these, 67% will belong to the new generation, significantly surpassing the average of new-generation Airbus aircraft in the fleets of other European companies, which currently stands at 32%.
