Aeroméxico has received a new 787-9 Dreamliner directly from the factory. The aircraft flew from Boeing facilities in Everett, Washington, to the Mexico City International Airport (MEX).

The Dreamliner, with registration N742AM, is 3.5 years old. Initially intended to carry the Mexican registration XA-SSS, this 787-9 was not taken by Aeroméxico in November 2020 and remained in storage until May 2nd.

On May 8th, the Dreamliner departed from Paine Field (PAE) and landed at the Mexico City Airport, where it will undergo final preparations before entering service. Aeroméxico currently operates a fleet of 21 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which includes eight 787-8s and thirteen 787-9s.

The new 787-9 is configured to carry 36 passengers in Premier Class and 238 in Economy Class. The cockpit features an anti-turbulence system and LED lighting that adjusts according to the flight phases and time.

Andrés Conesa, CEO of Aeroméxico, expressed his excitement on LinkedIn: «The Aeroméxico family continues to grow; we are very happy to welcome the new member of our fleet, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner that allows us to continue fulfilling the objective of connecting Mexico with the world aboard the safest, most modern, and environmentally friendly aircraft.»

Conesa added, «Thanks to this strategy, we continue to shape the most robust fleet in 90 years of history. Today we have more than 150 aircraft, 21 of which are Dreamliners, the wide-body aircraft that, since its entry into operation, has safely transported more than 853 million people around the world.»

The 787s are used for long-haul flights between Mexico and South America, Asia, and Europe, as well as high-density routes.
