With the increase in passenger demand during the high summer season, Aerolíneas Argentinas will expand the number of flights between Salvador International Airport in Bahia and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The concessionaire VINCI Airports, administrator of the terminal in the Bahian capital, reports that the airline will operate 10 weekly flights between the two cities from January 8 to March 1.
Marcus Campos, Marketing and Air Promotion Manager at Salvador Bahia Airport, highlights that the terminal’s adequate infrastructure and the constant efforts between the airline, the airport, and the state government were key to this new achievement.
«We have recorded a more than 35% increase in Argentine passengers landing in Salvador in 2024 alone, consolidating the airport’s strategic role in this flow and Bahia’s prominence in receiving foreigners in the Northeast,» he emphasizes.
The Secretary of Tourism of Bahia, Maurício Bacelar, stated that «this decision by Aerolíneas Argentinas demonstrates that the work done by the State Government to attract more international flights to Bahia, in collaboration with airlines and Vinci Airports, has been successful,» according to our Brazilian partner media, AEROIN.
«We have secured 19 flights from South America, departing from Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay to Salvador, the highest volume in the Northeast for the high season, in addition to routes between Argentina and Porto Seguro. The goal is to further expand Bahia’s leadership in the region regarding the arrival of foreign tourists,» he added.
In this regard, the state of Bahia announced this week a new economic incentive to encourage more airlines to operate international flights to the state (See: The state of Bahia implements subsidies to attract more international flights).
Aerolíneas Argentinas’ additional flights will be operated on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with arrival in Salvador scheduled for 12:00 p.m. and departure to Buenos Aires at 12:50 p.m. Tickets are already available for purchase on the airline’s website, with fares starting from around USD 550 round trip depending on the date. In addition to flights to the Argentine capital, Aerolíneas Argentinas will also operate one weekly flight between Córdoba and Salvador to meet demand from the interior of the country, with tickets starting from around USD 800 round trip, also depending on the date combination.
