Eastern Airlines postpones Quito´s first flight to September

Eastern scheduled to start operations to the capital city of Ecuador starting on the end of May on Boeing 777-200(ER). The company’s destinations to and from Quito are set to be Miami and New York, both with a weekly frequency.

As a consequence of travel restrictions and demand due to COVID-19 pandemic, Eastern Airlines postpones the start of operations to Quito until September, according to information obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium.

The company plans to fly to Quito from September 1st. The frequencies per week will remain the same for each route.

Until last week the company planned to begin operations between New York and Anchorage with the Boeing 777-200(ER) in May. Finally, this route was canceled.

Eastern Airlines currently has two Boeing 777s in its fleet, which did not operate regularly with the company. Due to the suspension of flights to Anchorage and the delay of Quito the company’s Boeing 777 will be, at least, four more months inoperative.
