American Airlines continues to bet on Colombia and adds San Andrés Island to its network as of December 4, 2021.

The airline began to reveal what the northern hemisphere winter season will be, in which it will strengthen its main base at Miami International Airport (MIA).

On this occasion, flights to San Andrés are focused on outbound tourism from the United States, being the only direct route between the island and the northern country. The operations will be carried out via the regional subsidiary Envoy Air on the Embraer 175 with two weekly flights, providing it with 304 seats per week.

Schedule and frequencies

Flights From Departure To Arrival Frequencies
AA 3517 Miami (MIA) 11:00 am San Andrés (ADZ) 1:30 pm Wed – Sat
AA 3519 San Andrés (ADZ) 2:30 pm Miami (MIA) 5:00 pm Wed – Sat

American Airlines is the most important airline between the United States and Colombia, reaching seven Colombian cities from Miami (MIA), New York (JFK) and Dallas / Fort Worth (DFW).

During these last months the market between both countries has been increasing strongly. This is due to vaccine tourism in the northern giant and the important VFR (Visiting friends and family) traffic.

The airline took advantage of its advantage over its other competitors by starting three new routes from New York to Cali, Medellín and Bogotá in June, increasing frequencies on all routes to Colombia and adding capacity to them by including wide-body aircraft such as the Boeing 787- 8 and Boeing 777-200ER.

In July 2021, the company is positioned as the main airline in the market between both countries with 35% of the seat offer, in second position is Avianca with 22% and further back Spirit Airlines with 16%.

After Mexico and Ecuador, Colombia is the market with the best recovery figures in terms of international connectivity, already at levels close to 70% in the offer of seats and flights.
