Air Canada and Mexican authorities present new connection between Canada and Monterrey

Air Canada, in partnership with the Secretaría de Turismo de Nuevo León and Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA) presented the new Toronto – Monterrey route. This new service marks the milestone of the only non-stop connection between Canada and Nuevo Leon, boosting the region’s connectivity with North America.

This new service is expected to strengthen commercial and tourism ties between Mexico and Canada. The route will be available year-round and customers will be able to access 28 Canadian cities and 55 international destinations in Europe, Africa, Asia and the United States from Toronto.

Today we are making history by announcing the start of operations of Air Canada, which will connect Nuevo Leon directly to Toronto for the first time, helping to strengthen trade and tourism ties between Mexico and Canada, reaffirming that Nuevo Leon is in the international spotlight,” said Maricarmen Martinez Villarreal, Secretary of Tourism.

Flight schedule between Toronto and Monterrey

Starts October 29, 2023

  • Toronto – Monterrey Flight AC 1359 YYZ 17:50 – MTY 21:25 Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
  • Monterrey – Toronto Flight AC 1358 MTY 10:25 – YYZ 15:15 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

The route will be operated on Airbus A220-300 aircraft with 137 seats in two classes (12 Signature Class/125 Economy) and promotional fares are available from 630 roundtrip. Air Canada’s Mexican network also offers non-stop flights to Cancun, Cozumel, Huatulco, Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta, San Jose del Cabo and Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo.

According to data compiled by the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (FAA), in the period January-July 2023, 2,991,028 passengers with an occupancy factor of 84.5% were mobilized between Canada and Mexico, making it the second largest international market for the Aztec country, only surpassed by the United States. Air Canada has 16.1% of the current market share.

For Air Canada, being the only airline with direct flights to Canada, initiating, maintaining and strengthening connectivity between Monterrey and Toronto, through this new route, reinforces the already existing link between one of the most important industrial and business cities in Mexico, with one of Canada’s main economic and cultural centers,” said Virgilio Russi, Vice President of International Sales.

In addition to the new Air Canada service, Monterrey Airport will have international service for the winter season to Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami, Phoenix – Sky Harbor, Detroit, Madrid, Panama – Tocumen, Atlanta, Houston – Intercontinental, Chicago O’ Hare, Bogota, Havana, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Antonio.
