Volaris Costa Rica will land for the first time in South America with a new service from San Jose (SJO) to Lima, Peru (LIM) with an operation of three times per week. Flights start on June 3, 2022.
This new destination aims to expand the tourist offer and business travel between both nations, as well as to mobilize VFR passengers (visiting friends and/or family), according to the company.
Data obtained by Aviacionline through the Costa Rican Tourism Institute, in 2021 Costa Rica received 5,786 by air.
«We want to be Peru’s partner in the task of boosting post-pandemic economic growth. South America is an excellent opportunity to continue creating air bridges and promote the diverse offer of travelers» said Ronny Rodriguez, director of Institutional Relations of Volaris in Central America.
Data obtained by Aviacionline through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in 2019 between San Jose (SJO) and Lima (LIM) 145,200 passengers and 533.3 tons of cargo were mobilized. Peru is Costa Rica’s second main market in South America.
Volaris Costa Rica will operate this new route on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with the following schedule:
- San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) 14:20 – Lima, Peru (LIM) 19:00
- Lima, Peru (LIM) 20:00 – San José, Costa Rica (SJO) 22:45
With this new destination, the company will offer five international destinations from the Costa Rican capital, which include:
- Cancun (CUN) Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
- Guatemala City (GUA) Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
- San Salvador (SAL) two daily flights.
- Mexico City (MEX) Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
