The government of Mexico has reported that, from January to October 2023, international tourist traffic by air surpassed 17.66 million arrivals in the country. This represents a growth of 6.2% compared to the same period in 2022 and surpasses the arrivals recorded between January and October 2019 by 13.8%.
Tourism Secretary, Miguel Torruco Marqués, pointed out that the main countries were the United States, Canada, and Colombia, totaling 13.4 million passengers. Additionally, he highlighted that the most frequently used airports were Cancun, Mexico City, and Los Cabos, with 13.5 million international tourists passing through their halls.

Torruco Marqués added that the arrival of American tourists exceeded 3.4% compared to 2022, increasing arrivals for that period by 27.9% compared to 2019. For Canadians, the growth was 51.6% (1.2 million) compared to the same period in 2022 and 3.8% compared to 2019.
Tourist traffic is highly concentrated, and Cancun, Mexico City International Airport (AICM), and Los Cabos were the airports that received the highest number of international passengers, with 13.5 million. Compared to 2022, the growth was 4.4%, and compared to the same period in 2019, it was 12.4%. Cancun Airport welcomed 8.1 million international tourists (up 5% from the first ten months of 2022); AICM received 3.5 million (1.7% more); and Los Cabos Airport received 1.8 million (7% more).
For the rest of the country’s airports, the arrival of 4.1 million international tourists was recorded. This marks a level 12.4% higher than the arrivals in the same period of 2022.
