Punta Cana airport continues its process of recovering international flights for the northern hemisphere winter season.
In November, they estimate to serve 143 weekly flights by 25 airlines from more than 20 cities around the world, although United States and Canada remains as the main markets, according to what was reported by the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic.
Airlines who has requested scheduled flights are Air Canada, Aerolineas Argentinas, Air Transat, American Airlines, LATAM, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, Edelweiss, Wingo, Tui Airways, West Jet, Sunwing, Frontier, Jet Blue, Spirit, Air Europa, Evelop, British Airways, Nordwind, Delta Airlines, Wamos, Sun Country, Condor and GOL.
Several airlines will increase their frequencies by taking them to daily, such as Air Canada and Air Transat from Toronto and Montreal, American Airlines from Charlotte, United Airlines from Newark and Chicago, Delta Airlines from Detroit and Condor from Dusseldorf.
Regarding the Latin American Market, Copa Airlines will also operate daily from Panama starting November 20, while Avianca will resume flights from Bogotá next Sunday 1.
Between March of this year when the pandemic broke out and October 19, the Punta Cana airport received just 777 flights, so going to 143 a week is an important sign of recovery for a country whose 8% of its GDP depends on tourism.
In 2019, Punta Cana Airport handled over 7.1 million passengers.
