Volaris restarts flights to Costa Rica in November, earlier than anticipated

For Volaris, the projections on the restart of operations to the different destinations it serves seem to be going better than expected. In a statement issued on Friday, October 16, the company reported that it will fly to Costa Rica again in the month of November and not in December as it had previously announced. In addition, it will operate again in Guatemala, Mexico, the United States, and El Salvador from November 23.

The ultra-low-cost proposal is very tempting: to encourage the movement of the population, it will offer up to 70% discount on the purchase of tickets to and from Central America. Additionally, the carrier reached an agreement with the hotel sector of Costa Rica in which it will grant coupons for an amount of 78 dollars to cover part of the stay.

“We entered an operational stoppage practically since April, which has lasted for a long time and will last until November 23, when flights will resume in Costa Rica,” said Enrique Beltranena, executive director and founder of Volaris.

From November 23, Volaris will gradually recover operations in the region and expects to make five daily flights. On that date, the company will enable routes to Los Angeles, California; New York, Washington D. C., Cancun, and Mexico City.

The United States improved Costa Rica’s rating regarding Covid 19, positioning it at level 3 after the US government had suggested in August not to travel to that country. In the United States’ list of recommendations, most countries are in category 3 including Costa Rica, 16 countries are classified as category 2, and two countries as category 1.

“We have closed the month of September with 86% of our airline’s capacity, but we hope for the month of November to reach 90% of flight capacity,” added Beltranena.

According to the data provided by the General Directorate of Migration and Foreigners, 19,317 foreigners entered Costa Rica in the month of September, compared to the figures for the same month in 2019 in which the Costa Rican Tourism Institute registered the entry of 160,206 foreign visitors.

Volaris is strongly committed to the reactivation of tourism in Costa Rica, these actions will allow you, in addition to the economic income in your finances, to generate a contagion to the desire to travel with the discounts and promotions it offers. After many months of traffic restrictions, this will be a good opportunity to encourage people to travel again.
