On March 8 a vaccination center against COVID-19 was put into operation at the Punta Cana International Airport (AIPC), which has 20 stations for simultaneous use and complementary logistics facilities.
It was possible thanks to a joint effort of the Ministry of Health of the Dominican Republic with Grupo Puntacana and the Punta Cana International Airport.
«This is the start of a scheduled program for the tourist area as part of the VACUNATE RD National Vaccination Plan, it is free and will be available for the tourist area by age groups, according to the phases establish by the Ministry of Public Health on the next 30 days» Grupo Puntacana said.
Since yesterday people over 60 years of age, educational and health personnel can be vaccinated. The center will open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The facilities, which are expected around 2,000 people to be circulating per day, are located in Terminal B of the airport. They consist of a document reception and registration area, 20 vaccination stations, an observation area and access to vehicle parking.
To expedite the process, they recommend that only people over sixty years of age attend with a companion.
This also indicates that they should postpone vaccination if they have a fever or are suffering from COVID-19. Those who have received plasma or monoclonal antibody therapy must wait 90 days before being vaccinated. Those with a history of allergic or adverse reactions should consult with their physician.
On the other hand, vaccines are not administered to pregnant women or those under 18 years of age.
