On the morning of 6 October, Public Health Under-Secretary Mrs. Paula Daza announced a number of changes to the «Protected Border» plan. These modifications will come into effect as of November 1.
As of that date, travelers entering Chile with their complete vaccination schedule will have to comply with a 5-day quarantine, a period that can be reduced to the time it takes to obtain a negative PCR result in Chile, which ultimately turns the quarantine into the isolation of around 24 hours.
On the other hand, children under 6 years of age will be able to leave the country without the «Mobility Pass», an essential requirement that was not granted until now. The Under-Secretary indicated that this age group does not yet have an approved vaccine, so they will not be able to count on the vaccination certificate granted by the «Mobility Pass».
Daza said that foreigners must continue to go through the process of vaccine approval through the site: mevacuno.cl, and emphasized that this administrative step is mandatory and that it takes about two weeks.
She also reaffirmed that foreigners should not start their trip without having the validation certificate issued.
The rest of the measures implemented by the «Protected Borders» plan remain unchanged, so the mandatory C19 form, the follow-up, and the negative PCR 72 hours prior to boarding remain in force.
So…..if you need to go into quarantine when you enter the country, how is it possible to obtain a PCR test?
