Italia Trasporto Aereo – acronym for Italia Trasporto Aereo and doing business as ITA Airways, Italy’s new startup funded by the country’s national government, has unveiled its operational and commercial data on its first 14 days of operations.

The airline, it says in a press release, has performed over its own expectations and projections.

2,764 flights were operated in the 14 days following the airline’s «birth» date, in October 15th, after Alitalia’s demise the day before. Of these, 1,942 were domestic and 822 were international.

The on-time performance was at 84.1% for departures and 84.6% for arrivals, with load factors at 57%, «a number in line with the industry and over the expectations», says the press release.

Sales-wise, ITA says that, in the week that ranges from 18 to 23 of October, the targets drawn by the airline were surpassed by 50%, while in October 23 the company broke the record set by the airline in its first day of sales, August 26, passing the 2 million euros mark.

The airline’s customer’s «favorite» destinations, the company says, are Milan, Napoli, Bari, Catania and Palermo, in the domestic field, and Paris internationally.

Finally, ITA Airways’ new frequent flyer program, Volare, has over 70,000 customers already.

ITA is still operating mostly aircraft with Alitalia colors, although the new livery – seen above – was announced upon the airline’s launch of operations. There is also one Airbus A320 flying with the special «Born in 2021» colors, seen in the featured image of this article.

According to Planespotters.net, ITA is currently operating 18 Airbus A319s, 27 A320s and six A330-200s.
