Viva Air and Viva Aerobus announce first low-cost interline agreement in the region

On Thursday, October 28, low-cost airlines Viva and Viva Aerobus announced their interline agreement that will enable them to offer more flight options to their customers in Mexico, Colombia and Peru.

Thanks to the agreement, the first between two low-cost airlines, travelers will be able to purchase tickets to fly between Bogotá and Mexico City from the websites or apps of both airlines, as well as choose their routes with either of the two companies, i.e., fly outbound on Viva and return on Viva Aerobus, or vice versa.

Felix Antelo, President and CEO of Viva, said, «What we are accomplishing is not only the first interline agreement between two low-cost airlines in the region; we are helping to build the region, strengthen our presence in the market and contribute to the economic revitalization. Both airlines are working for air inclusion and to allow increasing numbers of people to have the opportunity to fly more, to reach further destinations, in this case between Colombia and Mexico».

With the implementation of the agreement, travelers on both airlines will have more schedule options in low fares.

«Viva Aerobus has revolutionized the way to travel by air in Mexico, and with this agreement with Viva Air we will enhance the offer of our flights to Bogota, with great customer service, and most importantly offering the lowest prices given that we operate ultra low-cost business models, always taking care of the economy of our passengers,» said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.

Viva currently operates 34 domestic routes in Colombia and Peru and 7 international routes to the United States, Peru and Mexico.

Viva Aerobus offers more than 112 routes within Mexico and 31 international routes to the United States, Cuba, and Colombia, with a 23% share of the Mexican market.
