Airbus has delivered the first Airbus A330neo to the Philippines-based Cebu Pacific, with the aircraft’s distinctive 459-passenger economy configuration.
This Airbus A330-900, registration RP-C3900 (MSN2001), is the first of a 16-aircraft order for the carrier, making Cebu Pacific the sixth operator of the model in Asia-Pacific. The order was placed at the 2019 Paris Air Show and is scheduled for delivery between 2021 and 2024.
The aircraft is powered by Rolls-Royce’s latest-generation Trent 7000 engines and is equipped with a new composite wing with a wider span for improved aerodynamics.
The model consumes 25% less fuel than previous-generation aircraft and a similar reduction in CO2 emissions. The A330neo’s outstanding efficiencies also ensure compliance with current and future sustainability standards in terms of noise and emissions.
«Cebu Pacific’s first A330neo brings us closer to our goal of having an all-Neo fleet by 2027 and shows our commitment to making air travel affordable while guaranteeing environmental and social sustainability», said Cebu Pacific Chief Strategy Officer Alex Reyes.

While the number of 459 seats on an A330neo is unprecedented, it does not sound so far-fetched in Asia-Pacific, a region where Lion Air already operates six aircraft of the model with a 436-passenger configuration, normally used on high-density domestic routes, although in recent months they have also entered the international segment.
In the case of Cebu Pacific, its A330neo aircraft will be deployed to destinations in Australia and the Middle East.
