Last week the presence of airBaltic at the Dubai Airshow, and more specifically that Martin Gauss, the Latvian company’s CEO, was part of the event, had attracted attention. We now know a little more about why he attended.
Emirates signed a codeshare agreement with airBaltic to offer its customers increased connectivity to and from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, and Finland. The codeshare partnership will both open up new travel opportunities and offer Emirates customers convenient access to the Baltic Sea region. airBalitc customers will also benefit from seamless access to Emirates’ extensive network, via Dubai.

It will also open Emirates’ exciting network of global destinations to more Baltic travelers. We look forward to the beginning of a successful partnership».
Martin Gauss, President, and CEO of airBaltic said, «Emirates is a truly global connectivity player, and we are delighted to start a new partnership in conjunction with the direct flights between Riga and Dubai that we launched in September. The new partnership will enable our passengers to fly to exciting new destinations in Asia, Australia, and beyond».
The codeshare agreement will offer customers from key markets in the Middle East, West Asia, Far East, and Australia greater access and connectivity to the Baltic States.
Emirates will place its «EK» commercial code on airBaltic flights operated between: Dubai – Riga (Latvia); Riga – Tallinn (Estonia); Riga – Vilnius (Lithuania); and Riga – Helsinki (Finland). airBalitc will also place its marketed code «BT» on Emirates routes between Dubai – Bangkok (Thailand); and Dubai – Jakarta (Indonesia).
The alliance, subject to government approval, will also offer customers added travel benefits such as hassle-free booking with a single ticket, competitive fares, and a unified baggage policy. Tickets can be purchased from emirates.com, online travel agencies, and local travel agents. Customers can book flights for travel from November 29, 2021.
Emirates currently has coded-sharing agreements with 22 airline partners plus two rail companies. The airline also holds interline agreements with more than 115 airlines and rail companies.
