When everything was almost ready to proceed with the delivery flight of the first of the two Airbus A330-200s to be incorporated into Aerolineas Argentinas’ fleet at the end of this month, the unexpected discovery of the LV-KAN engines on behalf of the company’s technical staff stopped the operation, so the aircraft remains in San Bernardino, California, waiting for the problem to be fixed (although it could be moved to another place).
The company confirmed this to Aviacionline but did not go into further details regarding the new developments.
The LV-KAO, the second A330 that was scheduled to arrive in December to enter commercial service in January, also has problems with an engine, which was to be replaced, while undergoing painting.
Both aircraft previously operated for TAP Air Portugal since they left the factory in October 2007 (LV-KAN) and February 2008 (LV-KAO), and they are to replace two similar aircraft, registered LV-FNI and LV-FNL, the first one already returned to the lessor and the second one removed from the fleet.
Aerolíneas Argentinas indicated that, although there is no certain date as to when these A330s will arrive in the country, it is expected to do so during the first days of January.
Whereas one of the A330s, the LV-KAN, was already scheduled to enter commercial service during the first week of December, it is still to be determined how its unavailability will be replaced in the schedule.
