787 effect continues: American Airlines modifies summer schedule to Europe

As a result of the halt in Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner deliveries, American Airlines will reduce operations to Europe for the 2022 summer season. The carrier will not resume several seasonal services, will discontinue some seasonal routes, and will increase capacity on key routes on its transatlantic Joint Venture partners with British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, LEVEL, and Finnair.

In order to reallocate capacity to Europe for the upcoming season, American Airlines was forced to reduce frequencies and capacity to destinations such as Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. Operations from the Caribbean, Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador will no longer be operated by wide-body aircraft, and operations to the Asia-Pacific region will continue to be reduced with the suspension of routes: Seattle (SEA) – Shanghai (PVG)/Bangalore (BLR) and Dallas Fort/Worth (DFW) – Beijing Daxing (PKX)/Hong Kong (HKG), which will not be available during the summer of 2022.
