The certification flight program for the new Russian MC-21 commercial aircraft was completed and the plane will receive a type certificate in the near future, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov stated in an interview with Rossiya TV channel last Friday 24, according to Tass news agency. He also stressed that deliveries to its customers should begin next year.

Manturov had previously said that it would depend on the completion of the test flight program for the MC-21 aircraft to be certified before the end of 2021.

He now says it will also be dependent on how quickly Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency makes the relevant decision. The Ministry of Industry and Trade committed to doing all possible to ensure the certification of the aircraft in the last days of the year.

The MC-21 is a narrow-body airliner in the category of the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 family, which is being developed at the Irkut plant (part of United Aircraft Corporation controlled by Rostec).

At the last Dubai Airshow 2021, Irkut also introduced the MC-21-310, a version with Russian Aviadvigatel PD-14 engines, unlike the -300, equipped with Pratt & Whitney PW1400G. Aviacionline was present there and we were able to meet it in person.
