Colombia begins to require PCR test and vaccination to enter the country.

The Colombian Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced that as of December 14, all passengers must have at least one dose of the vaccines received in their country of origin and a PCR test in order to enter the country.

Such measure means a 180° turn for Colombia, so far one of the Latin American and Caribbean nations with the most flexible access policies.

However, at this stage, most countries in the region and in Colombia’s main outbound markets already have well-advanced vaccination programs, so this is not expected to be detrimental to tourism.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Health, the requirements will be different considering two groups of passengers:

Colombians, foreigners residing in Colombia, and diplomats and their families.

  • Pre-registration form of Migración Colombia with the data of your trip on the Check-Mig page before coming to Colombia. You must enter the following link: Check-Mig.
  • Vaccination card showing that they were vaccinated at least 14 days before the date of entry to the country.
  • If they have not been vaccinated, they can bring a PCR test performed 72 hours in advance and with a negative result.

Passengers in transit in Colombia

They must only comply with the sanitary requirements of their final destination, but they must remain in the transit zone of the Colombian airport without going through immigration.

«The justification for being vaccinated 14 days before the flight is that, in this period of time, the desired protection is achieved with the vaccine dose,» explained the Colombian Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Ruiz Gómez.

«We are not going to prohibit entry to any resident Colombian, everyone can enter, and, for that, if they have not been vaccinated they can bring their proof,» he added.

The minister explained that each airline has the obligation to enforce these measures and must request them when boarding their passengers.
