The International Airport El Dorado in Bogota inaugurated December 27 a number of breastfeeding booths throughout the terminal to ensure that lactating women find a comfortable, safe, and hygienic place where they can exercise their right to breastfeed their babies.
With these booths, which are located in the public areas, check-In area and national and international waiting rooms, El Dorado is reaffirming its commitment to meet the needs of its customers and opens an opportunity for breastfeeding mothers who pass through the terminal every day.
OPAIN’s Legal and Institutional Affairs Manager, Natalí Leal, stated, «At El Dorado, we always seek to be at the leading edge and offer the best experience to our guests. For this reason, we have provided breastfeeding mothers with an exclusive space to breastfeed their babies or extract breast milk. We are happy to be able to deliver these booths that will encourage breastfeeding in a safe, well-conditioned space.
The UNICEF representative in Colombia, Aida Oliver, said «Breastfeeding is essential for both mother and baby. It is the most cost-effective practice in terms of maternal and child health and nutrition and in the comprehensive development of children (cognitive, physical and emotional) with long-term effects. We celebrate this commitment made by the airport to provide favorable conditions that help promote breastfeeding.»
Lastly, María José Rubio, President of TOYNOVO, OPAIN’s partner for the installation of the booths added «we aim to make a space that generates the ideal environment for breastfeeding babies and facilitates the travel experience for families.»
