France: Volotea launches two routes to Algeria

Volotea is increasing its presence in North Africa with two new routes to Algeria from its French bases in Bordeaux (BOD) and Marseille (MRS), which will debut in December.

Effective December 16, 2021, Volotea will fly between Marseille (MRS) and Oran (ORN) with two weekly frequencies during the end-of-year Christmas season through January and will offer a total of 70,000 seats per year.

Oran (ORN) will be the carrier’s first Algerian destination from Marseille, adding to the 22 destinations already available from Provence Airport (MRS).

The new route turns Volotea into the second-largest carrier in terms of destinations from Provence Airport, which became the carrier’s fifth base in France in 2018.

From December 23, 2021, Volotea will offer a connection between Bordeaux (BOD) and Algiers (ALG) with one flight per week and a total of 30,000 seats per year. This new route adds to the 21 destinations offered by the airline from Mérignac Airport (BOD).

Volotea now joins other low-cost carriers such as Vueling and Transavia in the market between Europe and Algeria.

«We are thrilled to announce these new routes from Marseille and Bordeaux to Oran and Algiers. This is a great success story for us as it helps us to achieve further growth and expand the range of flights we offer in France. We look forward to starting these flights to Algeria and welcoming the reopening of the air borders. Tickets can now be purchased in France on the Volotea website and through all the usual distribution channels. In Algeria, customers will be able to book their flights through travel agencies,» said Carlos Muñoz, Founder and CEO of Volotea.
