Iberia to increase flights to Argentina in 2022

By 2022, Iberia will be increasing its flights between Spain and Argentina, one of its main markets in Latin America and the Caribbean. Between January and February, it will operate from seven to ten flights a week, expecting to reach twelve flights a week as of March.

The COVID-19 health crisis and Argentina’s restrictions have diminished the frequencies to and from Spain, a market where more than one million passengers were flown annually. Iberia Group has been one of the airlines with the largest offer between both countries, with 16 weekly flights from Madrid (MAD) and 9 weekly flights from Barcelona (BCN), operated by LEVEL, its long-haul low-cost subsidiary.

“This year we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of our flights to Latin America and, indeed, Argentina was the first destination we flew to. We want to continue to build the bridge between Buenos Aires and Europe by gradually recovering our regular schedule of pre-pandemic flights. We are certainly still far from these figures, but we are confident that the 12 weekly flights will help to boost the market,” said Víctor Moneo, Director of Sales for Latin America and Institutional Agreements.

As of January 13, three weekly frequencies will be added to the current daily flight, followed by two additional weekly flights in March. The operations will be carried out in Airbus A350-900 with a capacity of 348 passengers and Airbus A330-200 configured with 288 seats. Meanwhile, LEVEL will maintain its four weekly flights from Barcelona (BCN) on its Airbus A330-200s for 314 passengers.
