Iberojet, the airline of the Ávoris business group, which includes the travel agency and hotel Barcelo Group, will reinforce its presence in Mexico. The company informed through a press release that the new route is the result of a joint collaboration between the government of the State of Baja California Sur, the private sector, and all the players that are part of the value chain of the tourist destination.
Historically, Baja California Sur had a large number of tourists coming from the United States and Canada, and in 2019 TUI Airways diversified that market by launching two weekly flights from London/Gatwick in the United Kingdom.
Each year, Mexico receives more than 144,000 tourists from Spain, an 83% increase in 2021 compared to 2020 arrivals figures, showing a growing and continued interest from Spaniards to visit the country.
«This new route will help diversify the tourism market by welcoming passengers from Spain and other European countries, who will experience the amazing natural wealth we have, as well as the panoramic views between the sea and the desert, and the wide and exclusive tourism offer of Baja California Sur and Los Cabos. By adding this route, we are able to bring in more visitors and with it, we enhance our competitiveness as a destination while strengthening the social development of the state,» said Victor Castro Cossio, Governor of the State of Baja California Sur.
«With this new connection, Iberojet demonstrates its commitment to Mexico, a country we have been flying to since the beginning of our operations in 2013. The company’s ambitious flight development plan for 2022 takes shape thanks to this new destination, which will allow Spanish travelers to enjoy the tourist, cultural and gastronomic delights of this beautiful Mexican region,» added Miguel Ángel Sánchez, CEO of Ávoris Corporación Empresarial.
