Turkish Airlines debuted sustainability-themed livery
The airline has painted one of its aircraft with a special leaf design, alluding to the biofuels it will increasingly use in its operations, with the aim of reducing the environmental impact of its business.
Turkish Airlines carried out its first flight on the Airbus 321 with sustainability livery connecting the cities of Istanbul and Stockholm, using biofuels and offering an environmentally friendly experience for its passengers.
As part of its Green Class initiative, the Turkish airline took measures such as using paper cups, wooden utensils, and containers, blankets, and pillowcases produced with 100% recycled certified yarns, among others.
The Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, Ahmet Bolat, assured that «as the flag carrier of our country, our aircraft with its new design is now in the skies to underline the importance of sustainability for us. With the expression biofuel on our aircraft, we wish to emphasize the importance of using sustainable aviation fuel, as it is one of the biggest obstacles in the aviation industry’s fight against carbon emissions, therefore, we are supporting biofuel manufacturing efforts and our goal is to increase our flights that use biofuels during their operations».
In a statement, the airline said it will deepen its efforts to reduce carbon emissions from its operations. To this end, in addition to promoting the production of PBS, it is committed to maintaining a young and efficient fleet and to choosing those destinations whose airports offer biofuels to power aircraft.
