Korean Air restores its European network after two years

After the opening of borders in South Korea, Korean Air has reestablished its European network adding several destinations suspended since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020. On July 1, the airline resumed operations to Vienna (VIE) and Milan – Malpensa (MXP).

The South Korean airline will offer non-stop flights to 7 cities in the Old Continent and will have an offer of 63,959 seats per month in 244 air operations, this represents almost 30% of its capacity compared to the same offered in July 2019.

Return to Austria

Korean Air returns to connect Seoul (ICN) with Vienna (VIE) with three weekly flights, prior to COVID-19 the company operated 15 years without interruption with passenger services in the Austrian capital, in addition the airline’s cargo subsidiary also offers operations in Austria.

Flight KE 937 took off from Incheon Airport at 13:40 local time and landed at Vienna Airport at 20:14.

We have a long-standing partnership with Korean Air in the passenger and cargo sectors. The services will be operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A330-200 aircraft with seating capacity of 269 and 218, respectively.

Data compiled by Aviacionline through AirPortal indicates that 87,478 passengers and 27,475 tons of cargo were moved in 418 air operations between Seoul Incheon (ICN) and Vienna (VIE) in 2019. Korean Air is currently the only air operator on this route.

Back to Italy

Korean Air resumes operations in the Lombardy region with the return of the route between Seoul (ICN) and Milan – Malpensa (MXP) with three weekly flights, with this service the company hopes to revive business travel between South Korea and northern Italy.

Flight KE 927 took off from Incheon International Airport at 13:58 local time and landed at Malpensa Airport at 20:23.

According to the Ente Nazionale Per L’Aviazione Civile (ENAC), Korean Air moved 265,367 passengers between Seoul and Italy.

Data obtained by AirPortal indicates that in 2019, 75,263 passengers and 31,434 tons of cargo were moved in 937 air operations between Seoul – Incheon (ICN) and Milan – Malpensa.
