Virgin Atlantic schedules first Airbus A330neo routes

Virgin Atlantic has scheduled the first routes for its new Airbus A330neo aircraft, focusing on destinations on the east coast of the United States: the first transatlantic service will be to Boston (BOS), based at the company’s main hub in London Heathrow (LHR).

The British airline continues to modernize its fleet with the aim of having more fuel-efficient and less carbon-emitting aircraft, the company expects to receive three units of this new model for this year and the rest will be delivered between 2023 and 2026.

The Airbus A333-900neo aircraft have a seating capacity of 262 seats that include the airlines’ new products (32 Upper Class/46 Premium Economy/184 Economy), plus an onboard bar «The Loft». These new aircraft will gradually replace the older A330-300ceo aircraft.

All services are operated from London Heathrow (LHR)

Boston (BOS)

Virgin Atlantic has scheduled A330neo service to Logan Airport (BOS) from October 12 with six weekly flights, the schedule is as follows:

  • Flight VS 11 LHR 16:25 – BOS 20:20
  • Flight VS 12 BOS 22:50 – LHR 09:30+1

Tampa (TPA)

This recently announced service will be operated with the newest aircraft in the company’s fleet starting November 3 initially with four times a week and from November 28 increases to daily flights, the itinerary is as follows:

  • Flight VS 129 LHR 13:25 – TPA 19:35
  • Flight VS 130 TPA 21:50 – LHR 10:15+1

Miami (MIA)

One of the two daily services to Miami (MIA) will be operated on Airbus A330neo, the aircraft will make its debut on this route on November 13, from December it will offer five times a week and moves to daily flights from January 20, 2023, the schedule is as follows:

  • Flight VS 5 LHR 12:20 – MIA 18:40
  • Flight VS 6 MIA 20:40 – LHR 09:20+1
New York (JFK)

The Big Apple is Virgin Atlantic’s main market, the new Airbus A330neo will have a special flight on November 7 on VS9/VS10 flights and becomes scheduled service from March 6, 2023 with six flights per week, the schedule is as follows:

  • Flight VS 3 LHR 08:55 – JFK 13:15
  • Flight VS 4 JFK 19:30 – LHR 06:30+1
