Curaçao: Hato International Airport management completes clearance of out of service airplanes

Curaçao Airport Partners completed the clearance process of out of service aircraft that were stored on the premises of Hato International Airport (CUR), which serves Willemstad, capital of the Dutch autonomous territory of Curaçao.

Work had begun in 2019 with the removal and scrapping of the first aircraft. As the company that manages the air terminal explained in a statement, the process was then halted as a result of the pandemic. The airport management had planned to remove the remaining eight aircraft this year. Finally, the last three aircraft left the site where they had been placed after the end of their operational life.

“We want everyone to have a great first impression when arriving to our island”, said Jonny Andersen, CEO of Curaçao Airport Partners. “This is why we are extremely happy to have accomplished this goal of clearing our aerodrome of aircraft which did not belong there and finally be able to proceed with planned projects for the enhancement of our airport”, he added.
