Delta and DG Fuels are creating a partnership to expand the availability of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF): this new low-emission SAF is paramount for achieving a more sustainable future for aviation.
Under the new agreement, the low-emissions fuel company plans to create a new SAF supply stream that will provide Delta with 385 million gallons of unblended sustainable jet fuel while helping to expand the availability of SAF in underserved markets.
“Achieving a sustainable future for travel will require all of us working together across industries and fostering innovations like DG Fuel’s new low-emissions SAF option,” said Pam Fletcher, Delta’s chief sustainability officer.
“SAF is essential to our industry’s more sustainable future, and the new supply chain flows will help ensure that sustainable fuel is more available and affordable,” Fletcher added.
DG Fuels is scheduled to begin deliveries in late 2027, with plans to deliver 55 million gallons of SAF annually for seven years.
The PBS is expected to be comprised of wood waste, corn cob and cotton gin feedstock and is expected to reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by 75% to 85% compared to conventional PBS jet fuel, according to Delta’s goal as a founding member of First Coalition of Movers.
The agreement also contributes to the Atlanta-based company’s goals for its recently approved Science Based Targets Initiative to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions from jet fuel by 45% per ton revenue kilometer starting in 2023, with a base year of 2019

The new agreement reflects Delta’s commitment to drive the growth of sustainable jet fuel while working to lower the aviation industry’s long-term carbon emissions.
“SAF cellulosic biomass feedstock is the key to deployment at scale that moves the needle for the aviation industry in reducing its carbon footprint,” said Christopher J. Chaput, president and chief financial officer of DG Fuels.
