Eviation Aircraft, a manufacturer of all-electric aircraft, announced today that Global Crossing Airlines Group, Inc. a Miami-based provider of passenger and cargo charter aircraft, has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) for 50 Alice aircraft.
According to the manufacturer, the aircraft will enable it to open new passenger routes in GlobalX’s key markets of Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean, supporting the airline’s plan to adopt sustainable and carbon-free technologies.
The aircraft, for 9 passengers and two pilots, is constructed of composite materials, powered by two magniX magni650 electric powerplants, and a T-tail. The manufacturer claims it significantly reduces noise and costs a fraction per flight hour to operate compared to light jets or high-end turboprops.
Gregory Davis, president of Eviation, stated that the aircraft is perfect for charter travel for individuals as well as groups because of its privacy, flexibility and convenience for smaller airports with runways up to 1000m long and its distance range of 815km (440nmi) at a speed of 407km/h.

A new market for GlobalX
GlobalX began passenger operations in August 2021 and operates seven A320 family aircraft in the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America for various companies. It also has 15 A321 freighter aircraft under lease agreements and will begin cargo operations in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Alice will allow GlobalX to enter a new business in regional routes focused on sustainable flights for growth markets, and the aircraft’s characteristics will allow it to operate a variety of Florida and Bahamian airports targeting tour operators and cruise ships. The manufacturer estimates delivering the first aircraft to GlobalX in 2027 and is evaluating the freighter variant to support its customers.
