BUENOS AIRES – At the ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum 2022, Avianca CEO Adrian Neuhauser was elected Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association.
Neuhauser was elected by his peers at the General Assembly, held this morning, and will serve a one-year term. The CEO of the Colombian airline, who holds a degree in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and has more than 20 years of experience in the financial sector, replaces LATAM CEO Roberto Alvo, who served as Chairman of the Committee for the 2021-2022 term.
«After highly challenging years for the industry, and in the midst of a volatile context marked by economic indicators that once again challenge us, the market demands from us more than ever solidity, competitiveness, diversification and flexibility,» said Neuhauser.
«I am honored to take on this role at ALTA, with the goal of uniting the industry in Latin America around a common focus to ensure that we will be more resilient and resistant, and that we will have a stronger and more reliable industry for the years and decades to come,» he added.
José Ricardo Botelho, Executive Director & CEO of ALTA, said, «It is a pleasure to welcome Adrian, who has been serving as Vice Chairman, as Chairman of ALTA’s Executive Committee. Adrian is an extraordinary person and leader and has always shown great support for ALTA’s work.»
«I am convinced that this flight that takes off today will be full of positive initiatives for the association, the industry and our region, especially in the areas of sustainability, ESG, staff training and welfare, operations, technology and human factors, among other priorities to further develop commercial aviation in Latin America and the Caribbean,» he added.
ALTA’s Executive Committee is now composed of Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of Avianca, as Chairman; Roberto Alvo, CEO of LATAM Airlines as First Vice Chairman; and Andrés Conesa (CEO of Aeroméxico), Tracy Cooper (CEO of Bahamasair) and John Rodgerson (CEO of Azul) as Vice Chairmen.
