Archer announced today, March 8, that it has finalized the local incentive transaction, allowing it to begin construction of its plant project. The facility will be ready for large-scale production and will be located in Covington, GA.
The new facility located at the Covington Municipal Airport will cover an area of approximately 350,000 square meters. The annual aircraft production rate is expected to reach 650 units, with the possibility of expanding to 2,300 units per year.
In January Archer announced that the relationship with Stellantis, manufacturer of Jeep, Ram, and Maserati automobiles, was further expanded.
«We are delighted to take this important step and to work closely with Stellantis to increase our high-volume manufacturing capacity at this new facility in Covington, Georgia,» said Adam Goldstein, founder and CEO of Archer.
This strategic union will allow us to fully exploit the capabilities of both companies in the development of Archer’s Midnight eVTOL aircraft. Stellantis will contribute advanced manufacturing technology and expertise, experienced personnel and capital. Archer will contribute its worldwide team of eVTOL experts, electric powertrain and certification.
This pooling of forces and capital is intended to accelerate production of the Midnight in order to strengthen its path to commercialization. Stellantis’ goal is to mass produce the aircraft as Archer’s exclusive contract manufacturer.
«The key to unlocking the promise of what the eVTOL aircraft industry can bring is scale, and we are delighted by the support that the State of Georgia and Newton County are providing to this first of its kind facility in such an exciting new industry.» Complete Adam Goldstein.
