The Dutch airline KLM presented the new intermediate cabin that will be put into operation on its flights between Amsterdam and Argentina and Chile. KLM passengers will be able to enjoy the new Premium Comfort class, which offers a larger space, greater comfort, service options and privacy.
KLM seeks the greatest satisfaction of its leisure and business customers, which is why it designed Premium Comfort. This cabin will offer different seats, a new concept in in-flight service and catering, which will take the passenger to a completely new flight experience. Premium Comfort will be phased in gradually, starting its implementation on a frequency of four flights per week.
Premium Comfort on flights to Argentina and Chile
The new Premium Comfort experience begins at Ezeiza International Airport in Argentina and Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport in Santiago, Chile. Passengers will be able to access multiple benefits and amenities, including a more flexible baggage policy, SkyPriority privileges, including preferential check-in and boarding. The new cabin is located between Economy Class and World Business Class.
Steven van Wijk, Air France-KLM’s Commercial Director for South America, said: «We are very happy to have, as of this month, this new premium cabin for our customers in Argentina and Chile. The new class will undoubtedly satisfy passengers’ wishes and needs. It also reinforces KLM’s position as a leading global network airline offering a wide range of onboard options and services.»
Increased customer comfort
The new cabin designed by KLM Engineering & Maintenance specialists at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol allows customers to enjoy wider than standard seats and superior comfort with increased legroom. Premium Comfort will feature 21 seats that will recline even more than those in Economy Class, ensuring better relaxation.
Onboard entertainment will feature a larger screen and each seat has footrests.
New catering
Premium Comfort will offer a new catering concept. On flights from Argentina and Chile, one or two meals will be served, subject to the duration of the flight. The options KLM will offer customers are meat, fish or vegetarian dishes.
After the meal, passengers will be able to enjoy coffee, tea, liquor and ice cream. A variety of snacks and cocktails will be served between meals, largely selected from the most popular ones previously served in World Business Class.
In the new cabin, KLM will continue to prioritize its sustainability-based concept, in line with the company’s adopted philosophy.
Collins Aerospace was responsible for the design of the new Premium Comfort Class cabin seats, in collaboration with KLM Customer Experience specialists. These new seats are lighter than previous designs, while maintaining their comfort and design features.
The materials and utensils to be used in the catering of the new Premium Comfort Class were carefully selected, selecting reusable material, such as special cutlery, bowls and plates made of lightweight polypropylene or made from recycled PEF. The materials were carefully evaluated by specialists in terms of circularity and weight, without neglecting aesthetic qualities.
KLM operates 7 weekly flights between Amsterdam and Buenos Aires/Santiago, which are operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft with a capacity for 294 passengers in two classes, 30 in World Business Class and 264 in Economy Class. The latter will certainly be modified with the implementation of the new Premium Class cabins.
