Emirates is studying the possibility of placing a new order for long-haul aircraft, according to Reuters.
During the annual general meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) held in Istanbul, the company’s CEO, Tim Clark, stated that the airline could order more Airbus A350, Boeing 777X, or 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
These would be part of the fleet renewal process, in a context of sustained growth in demand for air travel and positive prospects for the coming years.

Emirates could place an additional order for long-range aircraft
According to the information provided by Reuters, Clark did not provide details about the potential number of aircraft to be ordered. «All I will say is that we are looking at buying a number of extra aircraft», he commented.
In 2019, the company converted some of its orders for 777X aircraft placed six years earlier. As part of this conversion, it ordered thirty 787 Dreamliner. Additionally, it placed an order with Airbus for fifty A350-900.
Due to various problems in its development process, the 777-8 and 777-9 programme has been repeatedly delayed and still does not have an expected date of entry into commercial service.
However, Clark was optimistic about the American manufacturer’s ability to eventually achieve certification of the new model. Emirates remains on target to take delivery of the first 777X during the last quarter of 2025.
Currently, the Dubai International Airport (DXB)-based carrier has orders in place for 50 Airbus A350-900, 30 Boeing 787-9, 115 Boeing 777X and five Boeing 777F.
