ISTANBUL – The president of Turkish Airlines, Ahmet Bolat, stated today during a press conference held within the framework of the 79th Annual IATA General Assembly that, for the time being, they are dismissing the addition of Santiago de Chile and Asunción (Paraguay) to their Latin American network, as they lack the necessary and appropriate aircraft to serve them non-stop.
Regarding this, the executive informed that these destinations can be well served thanks to the agreement they have with Copa Airlines to transport passengers to Istanbul through the hub at Tocumen airport in Panama.
On the other hand, the executive told Aviacionline that during the next year they will add Monterrey to their list of destinations in Mexico, and also a second city in Colombia in addition to Bogotá.
Turkish Airlines has one of the largest global networks from its base in Istanbul. Within the American continent, the company operates towards 23 destinations: United States (12), Canada (3); Mexico (2), South America (4), Central America (1), Caribbean (1).
