Aer Lingus launches flights between Cork and Lyon

Aer Lingus is expanding its offering in France for the northern winter season with a new non-stop service between Cork and Lyon. This new route will be seasonal and will operate until the end of March.

Tara Finn, Head of Aviation Business Development at Cork Airport, added: «Cork Airport welcomes Aer Lingus’ announcement of a new winter service to Lyon. This new service will offer even more choice to passengers from the south of Ireland when planning their winter ski vacations. Lyon is the third largest city in France, and this new route will provide excellent access to some of France’s best known ski resorts, such as Val Thorens, Chamonix and Tignes«.

This winter, Aer Lingus is scheduled to increase capacity on its flights between France and Ireland by almost 20%, with a particular increase in flights between Ireland and Lyon by 14%. In addition, the Irish airline will be bolstering its seat offerings to and from Cork by around 37% and will resume two Spanish routes.

Starts on December 23, 2023.

  • Cork – Lyon Flight EI 828 ORK 13:20 – LYS 16:40 Saturday.
  • Lyon – Cork Flight EI 829 LYS 11:00 – ORK 12:20 Saturday.

The route will be operated on 174-seat Airbus A320 aircraft and promotional fares are available from 113 euros each way.

For this northern winter season, Aer Lingus will have scheduled services from Cork to Lanzarote, Malaga, Amsterdam, London – Heathrow, Lyon, Munich and Tenerife – South. In total, the Irish carrier will offer 14,640 seats per week to and from Cork in January, according to Cirium.

In addition, the IAG airline will operate several charter services from Cork to Paris – Charles de Gaulle this fall to meet demand from travelers for the Rugby World Cup in France.

  • Dublin – Paris: 27 flights a week.
  • Shannon – Paris: 1 -2 flights a week.
  • Dublin – Lyon: eight flights a week.
  • Cork – Lyon: one weekly frequency.
