Vueling to Launch Direct Flights to Rovaniemi, Finland and Amman, Jordan

Vueling, the low-cost airline from International Airlines Group (IAG), has launched two new routes for the upcoming European winter season. Starting from December 2, the airline will establish a direct connection between Barcelona and Rovaniemi, the largest city in Lapland, Finland. This flight will operate twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday, until January 13.

The company has expressed that the establishment of the Barcelona-Rovaniemi route is aimed at facilitating easy exploration of Nordic charm during the winter season.

The launch of this route, according to Vueling, is part of its ongoing strategy to strengthen its presence in the European market. Tickets are now available for purchase through the airline’s usual reservation channels.

Vueling will be competing on this route with TuiFly, which currently has a weekly flight scheduled starting December. The market between Barcelona and Finland is currently also served by Finnair and Norwegian, with seven and four weekly flights respectively. From November, Vueling will also operate three weekly flights to the Finnish capital.

Flights to Jordan

In parallel, Vueling has also revealed its plan to open a new route between Paris/Orly and Amman, the capital of Jordan, starting October 23, 2023. This route will offer two weekly flights during winter, on Mondays and Fridays, and two weekly flights during summer, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The increase in operations at Paris/Orly airport, as stated by Vueling, is part of its efforts to consolidate its operations in one of its main European hubs.

Furthermore, the inclusion of Amman as a new destination is intended to provide a greater variety of travel options for its customers and to reduce the seasonality of its operations, thereby adapting to the changing needs and preferences of travelers.

In this segment, Vueling will compete with Transavia, which operates three weekly flights between Paris-Orly and Amman. At Paris-CDG, Royal Jordanian operates two daily flights, while at Paris-Beauvais, Ryanair offers two weekly flights.

Vueling currently operates two weekly flights to Amman from Barcelona.
