Avelo Airlines expands its Wilmington operations with the addition of two new nonstop destinations: San Juan, Puerto Rico and Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida. The low-cost carrier is the first carrier to provide nonstop flights beyond the continental United States at Wilmington Airport, a travel alternative from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
The new services will begin for the 2023/2024 winter season and will increase the network of destinations from its Philadelphia/Delaware Valley base to 15. Since it began in February, Avelo has moved more than 125,000 customers in Wilmington, the fastest growth rate in the airport’s history in a single year.
Delaware River and Bay Authority (DRBA) Executive Director Thomas J. Cook, said: «Today is another milestone for Wilmington Airport – ILG. With the addition of San Juan, Puerto Rico to Avelo’s list of destinations, our airport will have direct service to a destination outside the continental United States for the first time in its history. And, with Sarasota-Bradenton International also on the schedule, ILG now offers commercial air service to a record fifteen major destinations.»

- Wilmington – Sarasota Flight XP 593 ILG 08:00 – SRQ 10:40 Thursday and Sunday.
- Sarasota – Wilmington Flight XP 594 SRQ 11:25 – ILG 14:00 Thursday and Sunday.

Starts November 15, 2023.
- Wilmington – San Juan Flight XP 587 ILG 13:10 – SJU 18:00 Wednesday and Saturday.
- San Juan – Wilmington Flight XP 588 SJU 19:10 – ILG 22:20 Wednesday and Saturday.
The new services will be operated on Boeing 737-800 aircraft with a capacity of 189 passengers and promotional fares are available from $49 to Sarasota and $99 to San Juan. The low-cost carrier also recently announced new nonstop service between New Haven and Puerto Rico.
Avelo’s network of destinations at Wilmington Airport has nonstop service to Charleston (South Carolina), Daytona Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Greenville/Spartanburg, Myrtle Beach, Nashville, Orlando, Raleigh/Durham, San Juan, Sarasota, Savannah, Tampa, West Palm Beach, Wilmington (North Carolina).
