Smartwings will operate a non-stop service between Cologne/Bonn and Abu Dhabi for tour operator Etihad Holidays: this connection will start in mid-October this year. In addition, the airline is scheduled to connect Nuremberg and Leipzig/Halle with Abu Dhabi.

Starts on October 15, 2023.
- Flight QS 4459: Cologne/Bonn (CGN) 20:55 – Abu Dhabi (AUH) 06:10+1 Thursday and Sunday.
- Flight QS 4458: Abu Dhabi (AUH) 09:00 – Cologne/Bonn (CGN) 13:20 Thursday and Sunday.
The service will be operated on Boeing 737-8 aircraft with a capacity of 189 seats in single configuration and holiday packages are available from €499. Etihad Holidays is offering travel to Abu Dhabi as a package holiday, including an attractive selection of hotels and flexible durations.
In addition to the new service to Abu Dhabi, Cologne/Bonn Airport has services to the Middle East from Erbil (Iraq), Tehran (Iran), Tel Aviv (Israel) and Aqaba (Jordan).
