TAP Air Portugal presented an expansion of its flight schedule for the 2024 summer season, reinforcing Portugal’s global connectivity.

One of the highlights for next year’s schedule is the expansion of operations to Brazil with 11 additional weekly flights from Lisbon, bringing operations between Portugal and Brazil to 91 weekly departures. In addition, the Portuguese airline is strengthening its operations on key routes to the United States, Canada, Africa and Europe.
Brazil
Brazil is the most important intercontinental market in the entire TAP Air Portugal network, with the airline currently offering 80 weekly flights to Brazil via 11 destinations. The new schedule for next summer will include three additional weekly flights from Lisbon to Recife increasing the service to 10 flights a week, the service to Rio de Janeiro will increase from 10 to 12 flights a week.
Routes in Sao Paulo-Guarulhos, Belém, Brasília, Natal, Maceió, Porto Alegre and Salvador will have an additional weekly frequency to and from Portugal. TAP Air Portugal’s Brazilian network also includes nonstop flights to Fortaleza and Belo Horizonte.
North America
The Portuguese airline is boosting its North American operation, with the Lisbon-Toronto route increasing from 10 to 13 weekly flights and from the west coast of the United States, the airline will increase services to San Francisco from 5 to 6 flights per week. TAP Air Portugal’s North American network also includes destinations to New York JFK, Boston, Newark, Miami, Washington-Dulles, Chicago and Montreal.
Africa and Europe
The Portuguese airline will also increase service to Maputo, Mozambique from three to four weekly flights. In addition, the schedule in Italy is boosted with an additional weekly frequency to Rome-Fiumicino bringing the schedule to 35 weekly flights and in Florence the service increases from eight to ten weekly flights.
TAP Air Portugal increases profits in the first half of 2023
TAP achieved a positive net result of €22.9 million in the first half of the year, a milestone given that it is the first time the company has recorded positive results in the first six months of a year since half-year results are published (2019).
The first-half profit of €22.9 million represents an improvement of €225 million compared to the same half of the previous year, when a negative result of €202.1 million was recorded. When compared to 2019, the increase was €134.9 million.
