Lufthansa launches non-stop flights between Munich and Bangalore

On 3 November Lufthansa increased its presence on the Indian subcontinent with the start of non-stop flights between Munich and Kempegowda International Airport, complementing daily operations from Frankfurt. Bangalore is the third destination in India served by the German carrier from the Bavarian capital.

Flight LH 764 was operated in an Airbus 350 registered as D-VAIA. The aircraft departed Munich International Airport at 12:13 local time and arrived at Kempegowda International Airport at 00:37 the following day, after seven hours and 54 minutes.

Munich is the fifth European service from Kempegowda International Airport along with Paris-Charles de Gaulle (Air France), Amsterdam (KLM), Frankfurt (Lufthansa) and London-Heathrow (British Airways and from 1 April Virgin Atlantic).

Munich – Bangalore Flight LH 764 MUC 11:55 – BLR 01:00+1 Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Bangalore – Munich Flight LH 765 BLR 02:50 . MUC 08:05 Monday, Thursday and Sunday.

Route information

  • From 1 June, the service will increase from three to six flights a week.

The route is operated on Airbus A350-900 aircraft (Ex-Philippine Airlines) with 318 seats in three classes (30 Business Class/26 Premium Economy/ 262 Economy) and promotional fares are available from $540. Customers can also access North American destinations such as San Francisco, Toronto, Chicago, Boston and New York via Munich.

Lufthansa continues to boost its operations in India: by January next year it will have a five-times weekly service between Hyderabad and Frankfurt. In addition, the airline will again fly daily with the Airbus A380 to Delhi with a direct connection from Munich.

In the coming years, the Lufthansa Group expects to open new routes such as Vienna-Delhi or Zurich-Bangalore via its subsidiaries Austrian and SWISS or add further secondary destinations in India.

From Frankfurt:

  • Bangalore: daily flights by Boeing 747-8i
  • Mumbai: daily flights on Airbus A340-300.
  • Delhi: daily flights on Boeing 747-400.
  • Hyderabad: five flights per week on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner/ Airbus A340-300
  • Chennai: daily flights on Airbus A340-300.

From Munich:

  • Bangalore: six weekly flights on Airbus A350-900s
  • Mumbai: daily flights on Airbus A340-600.
  • Delhi: daily flights on Airbus A380.
