Eve Air Mobility and Jeju Air launched a new concept of operations for eVTOL flights

Eve Air Mobility and Jeju Air have launched a new Concept of Operations (CONOPS) for flights with electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft on Jeju Island. Both companies collaborated on this study, aiming to assess the requirements to enable Urban Air Mobility (UAM) in South Korea.

The collaborative study addresses operational and business aspects for the implementation of UAM services on Jeju Island. This includes analysis and results from Jeju Air customer opinion surveys conducted this year.

South Korea is among the first countries to lay the groundwork for urban air mobility. Establishing a concept of operations is one of the initial steps towards future UAM. Eve has collaborated with various cities, countries, and regulatory authorities to establish operation concepts in the United States, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and other regions around the world.

David Rottblatt, Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Government Affairs at Eve expressed: “We are taking a fundamental step towards implementing future UAM operations with eVTOL flights in South Korea. The partnership between Eve Air Mobility and Jeju Air enabled us to conduct a detailed analysis of the needs, opportunities, and challenges involved in the safe implementation of future eVTOL flights on Jeju Island.”

“As a leading airline, we want to contribute to the development of a safe operational environment for urban air mobility, drawing on our knowledge and experience in the aviation sector, adding value to the aviation industry. Just as Jeju Air popularized air travel in Korea, we aim to do the same for the UAM industry,” stated Taeha Park, leader of the UAM Business Task Force at Jeju Air.

The CONOPS will be available on Eve’s website for the entire community to understand how the UAM ecosystem will enable a new, accessible, safe, and sustainable means of transportation on Jeju Island.

Eve hopes that the CONOPS will inspire all stakeholders in this ecosystem to evolve together, allowing the industry, regulatory agencies, civil and government entities, as well as the community, to continue investing, developing, and integrating this new transportation model.
