Avianca will operate flights between San Salvador and Madrid for the upcoming European summer. This route will be serviced by Airbus A330 aircraft owned by the Spanish company Wamos.
The new connection between El Salvador and Spain will be available from June 15 to September 28. The route will feature four weekly flights, operated by Wamos under wet leasing, with A330-200 aircraft capable of accommodating 288 passengers.
Alex Benítez, Vice President of Avianca for Central America and the Andean Region, stated: “We are committed to continue providing point-to-point connectivity to Salvadorans. In 2023, we received a very positive response from our customers, and for that reason, we are reactivating this route, now with a renewed experience in executive cabin and onboard service to ensure our customers fly more comfortably.»
“We hope that this year our customers continue to choose us for flights to Madrid, and we do not rule out extending this route as we did last year,” added Benítez.
The outbound flight from San Salvador (SAL) will depart on Mondays at 5:25 (local time), arriving in Madrid (MAD) at 00:10 the next day. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, the flight will depart from SAL at 23:25 and arrive in MAD the next day at 18:10.
The return to El Salvador will depart from Madrid on Sundays at 20:40, arriving in San Salvador at 23:50, while on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, it will depart from MAD at 2:30, landing in SAL at 5:40.
This is not the first time that Avianca has turned to a wet leasing agreement with Wamos. In 2023, the company offered flights from San Salvador to Madrid and from Bogotá to Los Angeles using A330-200 aircraft from the Spanish airline.
